Project Description
[Text as submitted by architect] The residential project is conceptualized to be minimal with thoughtful focus on dynamic play of light and volumes. The built structure and the landscape blend together to form a cozy atmosphere for the occupants. The interactions of various volumes throughout the project offers varying spatial characters to the entrance and porch area by extending decks and terraces.
The project focuses on sustainability to achieve and deliver an energy efficient building, earthy architecture and a subtle landscape. The house is designed to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions, save water and energy and reduce waste during construction and house lifetime.
The site is located in the premium residential locality in the western suburbs. In warmer climates like Ahmedabad where cooling is the primary concern, passive solar design is effectively used as a design response. Masonry building materials with high thermal mass are very valuable and are utilized to retain the cool temperature of night throughout the day.
Concrete stone, exposed brickwork, and timber are used for window frames and window glazing to slow heat transfer and provide noise insulation. Creating a landscape around the house by the use of trees and shrubs to prevent excess heat from entering your house through windows & keeping the interior of your home cooled down naturally.
