Giovanni Maggioni
Born in Carate Brianza in 1976, he is registered with the Order of Architects of the Province of Monza under registration number 2154. He graduated in architecture and subsequently earned a PhD in Architectural Composition from the School of Civil Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. In addition to having carried out architectural design projects in both the public and private sectors, he has participated in national and international architectural competitions, receiving several awards, including a special mention at the “Giambattista Piranesi” International Prize for Architecture and Archaeology (Rome 2005) and admission to the “City of Stone” exhibition at the Venice Biennale (Venice 2006).
Mirko Noris
Born in Milan in 1979, he is registered with the Order of Architects of the Province of Monza under registration number 2396. In 2006, he graduated in architecture from the School of Civil Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. He has worked with various design firms in Milan, overseeing and coordinating projects and construction sites for residential and public buildings. He has participated in several projects for national and international competitions. He collaborated on the architectural design and drafting of the working drawings for the Alto da Boa Vista and Borba Gato stations – São Paulo Metro, Brazil, and on the preliminary, final, and working drawings for the VAQ cycle/pedestrian paths – EXPO Milano 2015 waterway.
Valerio Tolve
Born in Milan in 1981, he is registered with the Order of Architects, PPC, Province of Milan under registration number 16473. He graduated in Architecture and received a PhD in Architectural Composition from the School of Civil Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, where he teaches Architectural Composition. He has taught in workshops (ETSA Universitat Politècnica de València; IUAV of Venice; SDS di Architettura of Syracuse) and presented papers at conferences (Venice Biennale; University of Naples; University of Genoa). He has also collaborated with various firms, coordinating projects and competitions, including the International Architectural Ideas Competition National Museum of Afghanistan (2012, honorable mention).
Practice Ideology
W3RK was founded in Milan by Giovanni Maggioni, Mirko Noris, and Valerio Tolve, architects with a shared background in polytechnic studies who have combined their experience gained over a decade in designing public and private buildings.
The firm has recently won several awards, including first prize in the “Design Competition for the G. Marconi School for Industry, Crafts, and Commerce and the E. Lèvinas School for Social Professions” in Merano (Bolzano 2013), a special mention in the “Design Competition for a Boarding School with a Canteen in Malles Venosta” (Bolzano 2014), and a special mention in the “Design Competition for a School Canteen in the Karl Wolf Complex in Merano” (Bolzano 2014)
