Designed for a Thai manufacturer of herbal and natural health products, Novolife HQ is organized beneath a gently curving roof that integrates landscape, circulation, and passive environmental strategies. A central courtyard introduces daylight, ventilation, and seasonal change, creating a workplace shaped by climate rather than mechanical systems.
Designed for NOVOLIFE, a Thai manufacturer of herbal and natural health products, the project translates the company’s philosophy into an architectural environment where landscape, climate, and everyday work are organized beneath a gently curving roof.
Rather than expressing the client’s identity through symbolic forms, the building integrates natural systems into daily occupation, creating a workplace where architecture and nature function as one.
Responding to Thailand’s tropical climate, the gently curved roof serves as the project’s defining architectural element. It rises to accommodate larger workspaces, lowers at the center to create a more intimate human scale, and lifts again at the entrance to form a welcoming threshold. Its changing profile also directs rainwater to a central collection line, beneath which the building’s primary circulation spine connects every major function.
By aligning the movement of water with the movement of people, environmental infrastructure becomes part of the everyday architectural experience. The roof therefore operates not simply as a protective envelope, but as an active system that shapes spatial hierarchy, circulation, and the relationship between architecture and climate.
At the center of the building, a circular open courtyard introduces daylight, natural ventilation, rainfall, and seasonal change into the workplace. Drawing from the spatial principles of traditional Chinese courtyard houses rather than their formal expression, the office is organized around this open void, allowing every department to maintain a visual connection with nature while encouraging informal interaction throughout the day.
The courtyard also becomes a shared point of orientation, providing moments of pause and visual relief within the working environment while strengthening connections between different areas of the office.
The material palette is deliberately restrained. Fair-faced reinforced concrete provides structural clarity, thermal mass, and durability, while large glazed openings framed in dark grey aluminum establish a continuous relationship between interior and landscape.
Exposed concrete fins shade the western façade, and a reflecting pond at the entrance reinforces the relationship between architecture and landscape while contributing modestly to localized evaporative cooling. The restrained material language allows light, shadow, vegetation, and changing weather conditions to become active elements of the architecture.
By integrating structure, circulation, rainwater management, and passive environmental strategies within a single architectural form, NOVOLIFE proposes an office where environmental performance and daily occupation are inseparable, demonstrating how contemporary workplaces can be shaped by climate, landscape, and human experience rather than technology alone.
