About Competition
The Design-z competition is A-Class Marble’s annual celebration of imagination and material mastery, aimed at fostering young talent. The Design-z theme for 2025, “Upcycle with A-Class”, is here to offer you the chance to reimagine discarded marble and craft a compact, functional product that blends sustainability with smart design.
Requirements / Eligibility
Requirements:
- The concept-level design must primarily feature discarded marble fragments, each fragment no larger than 1ft x 1ft and up to 2 inches thick, with innate, irregular edges.
- While complementary materials can be integrated to enhance functionality, marble must remain the focal point.
- The design must be technically feasible, with joints and assembly thoughtfully considered.
- The design should serve a clear purpose and fit within a 3ft cube.
- Each submission must include a 300-word concept statement detailing inspiration, sustainability impact and material use.
- An A3 panel composed of high-quality sketches, renders, details and/or images of prototypes must be submitted.
Eligibility:
- Students enrolled in undergraduate or diploma courses of design and architecture.
- Individual entries only
