About Competition
BDA is an international design competition now in its second edition. This award, promoted by the Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association, recognizes projects and companies that showcase design excellence and innovation on a global scale.
BDA focuses on three main key areas: empowering industrial change, creating a better life, and leading future development. This year, a new fourth category focusing on AI and Robotics has also been introduced.

Companies, design agencies, designers and colleges, individuals or teams from any country and region in the world are eligible to participate.

About the Organizer
Better Design Award
The Better Design Award (abbreviated as BDA) is an international, comprehensive design competition established under the guidance of China Media Group, Guangdong Provincial People’s Government, Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government. It is open to global participants and aims to identify outstanding practices of design-driven innovation in technology, products, application scenarios, and industries. Centred around the goals of Chinese-style modernization, the competition focuses on building a modern industrial system and fostering new quality productive forces. It seeks to highlight how design empowers innovation and improves lives while leveraging the communication advantages of China’s new-generation mainstream media to build a world-class platform for Chinese design on the global stage.
Desall (media partner) is an open innovation platform that brings together renowned brands with a community of designers and creatives from different cultural backgrounds and a variety of creative industries. The platform facilitates participatory design and project development through customised competitions organised, run and promoted by Desall in collaboration with its clients. Participants in the competitions are part of Desall’s growing community, a creative powerhouse with over 150,000 members, able to deliver high-quality solutions for every stage of product development desired by clients – from concept to product design, from naming to packaging. Through its sister company Factory08, Desall has also been offering product industrialisation services since 2018. The focus is on the engineering and development of industrial automation systems that meet the latest standards of Industry 4.0 technology. To date, Desall has launched more than 250 activities and fostered the emergence of more than 42,000 creative projects.
