About Competition

Call for Submissions

This is your chance to design with purpose creating innovative, sustainable solutions that empower small vendors and transform urban street life. Your creativity could make a real difference.

Design. Build. Share. Inspire.

Aim & Objective

This competition invites participants to design innovative furniture for street vendors in India, such as fruit sellers, flower sellers, toy vendors, vegetable vendors, and street food sellers.

The goal is to create furniture that is:

Ergonomically feasible and user-friendly

Low-cost and flexible

Portable, allowing vendors to carry it home or transport it easily by bicycle or scooter

Easy to assemble and dismantle, as vendors cannot leave their setups on the street

The design should cater to one vendor only, with a maximum area coverage of 2–3 sqm.

Materials may include wood combined with steel, bamboo, metal, or upcycled waste materials, promoting sustainability and circular design.

The jury’s decision will be final.

Recognition & Impact

The winning project will be built, shared, and published.

Shortlisted projects will be featured in a Special Book.

The built prototype will be handed over through Thinking Hand NGO, supporting a local vendor in need or someone starting their own business.
