Practice Ideology

Both graduated from the Chandigarh College of Architecture, and along with two former partners, Harsimran and Mohit envisioned a ‘laboratory of design’ and started the studio “arch.lab”. Currently, both of them are the proprietors of the firm and have the strength of 12-15 architects onboard.

Arch.lab aims at having an experimental approach towards design and try to quench their investigative thirst by dismantling and rebuilding the existing notions in the world of architecture and design. The team tries to challenge the existing perceptions of the built environment and engage with simplicity and minimalism. Most projects are an outcome of vigorous research integrated with the design ideology, be it through the innovating use of materials, experimenting in construction practices, or exploring digital fabrication.

We undergo an investigative design process based on the design briefs and requirements to provide a product which creatively caters to all the aspects of the project. At Arch.lab, we understand that we are working in an environment with limited resources. Hence, design is viewed as a process that is a resultant of different stimuli, ranging from climatic conditions, financial and market forces, globalization, local conditions, prevalent traditions, technologies, and the community.
