Vijay Arya’s sensibilities for the integration of space and structure drive the material and spatial experiences of the projects at Arya Architects. A School of Architecture, CEPT University alumnus, he graduated as the best graduating student and completed his postgraduate studies at the Aalto University in Finland with teachers like Juhaani Pallasmaa. His belief in an innate dignity for all people steers the practice into the realm of public spaces that is supported by commitment to quality.

Meghal Arya pursues her passion for academics, bringing her ability for abstraction and analysis and contributing a conceptual strength to the projects. Also a School of Architecture graduate, she completed her master’s in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. Her interest in the deeper meanings and cumulative knowledge systems embedded in traditional architecture led to several publications and a PhD in The Water Architecture of Arid India.
Practice Ideology
Arya Architects is a design practice rooted in contextual relevance and social engagement. Each project emerges from a rigorous exploration of site, brief, and cultural narratives, driven by the principle of “appropriateness” – a balance of research, intuition, and responsiveness to space and people. The firm’s work spans diverse public architecture typologies including educational campuses, transit hubs, sports facilities, public parks, and tourism infrastructure.
Operating within the complex frameworks of public policy and regulation, Arya Architects has carved a niche in a space few young Indian firms navigate—redefining suburban life through inclusive, functional, and dignified design. Deeply inspired by traditional Indian architecture, the practice foregrounds semi-open and in-between spaces as essential to the Indian way of life—socially, culturally, and climatically.
Drawing from vernacular forms such as chowks and streets, their designs celebrate collective experiences, encouraging community interaction and reclaiming the democratic essence of public space. Arya Architects envisions architecture as a catalyst for societal transformation—quiet yet powerful interventions that enrich everyday life, challenge exclusivity and foster equity in the urban fabric.
