Ar. Vivek PP

Ar Vivek PP is the founding partner and chief urban designer at de earth Calicut. He completed his B Arch from National Institute of Technology Calicut in the year 2004 and did his masters in urban design at National University of Singapore in the year 2008. 

Known for his social and cultural approaches in architecture he has taken leadership in various associations and public initiatives. He was the Chairman of IIA Calicut Centre. He was the secretary and vice chairman of IIA Calicut Centre for 5 years and was the convenor of crossroads, the national event which hosted IIA National Awards. He was also awarded the coveted best member award by IIA India in the year 2016. He was the treasurer of IIID Kerala chapter for the term 2017-2019. 

His firm ‘de earth’ has won various state and national awards. Their residence at Parapanangadi was selected as the best residence in India by Acetech in the Year 2017. De earth has also been featured among top 50 young firms in India, hot 100 firms in India and best 100 firms in India to do internship. De earth social project of a 5 lakh residence won the gold leaf award in Kerala state awards 2017 for sustainability category. De earth was also selected as best young firm in Kerala for consecutive 4 years by Malayala manorama. 

His interest in academics and research made him associate with three other architects to co-found AVANI institute of Design where he currently serves as the governing council member and academic council member. His works are published in several national magazines and he is currently doing projects, from various scales of residences to urban design in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai apart from various parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Ar. Nishan. M

Ar. Nishan. M, is the founding partner and chief Architect at de earth Calicut. He graduated from National Institute of Technology, Calicut in 2004. A born artist, his creative skills and approach towards life and its social, cultural and psychological values has been instrumental in defining the working philosophy of the firm. He strongly believes in the existence of a divine consciousness, the search for which makes the journey of life interesting and meaningful. 

His interactions with Auroville and its principles have largely reflected in evolving a design language of the practice strongly rooted in earth, nature and culture. He has served as the editor for IIA Calicut Centre and is a visiting expert in many architecture colleges including AVANI Institute of Design and MES School of Architecture.

Practice Ideology

De Earth is a design practice based at Calicut, Kerala with a young professional team of architects, urban designers, engineers & social thinkers working towards nature inclusive & contextually responsive designs with a vision of making a greener & better tomorrow.

Their key project expertise includes single family homes, eco-responsive housing projects, specialized hospitality ventures, hospitals & urban spaces. Their designs evolve from being SENSIBLE to the needs of their clients while keeping the seeds of thoughts strongly rooted to the cultural & social background and SENSITIVE towards nature to create dynamic & soulful spaces.

De earth has won several awards for single family houses, hospitality & concept designs. Team de Earth was also selected as one of top 50 emerging design practices in India by igen, architecture + interiors magazine in the year 2015. Their works have been published in many local and national magazines.

Their constant appetite for learning & innovations keep them engaged with polishing their knowledge through an in-house research forum ‘Chinthaer’. ‘Chinthaer’ explores and debates on various nature friendly construction techniques, materials, psychological aspects of design and social responsiveness, to name a few.

Their motto, ‘ nurture-create-belong’ is conceived keeping in mind the philosophy of nurturing community relationships and happiness by connecting the spaces and nature to the human souls evoking a sense of belonging.
