Fangzhou Lydia Song
With B.Arch and B.FA degrees from Rhode Island School of Design and an M.AUD degree from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, Fangzhou Lydia Song has been a guest critic in architectural studios at Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Feng Yue
With an M.Arch degree from Tsinghua University and an M.AUD degree from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, Feng Yue practiced architecture in Hong Kong and New York before co-founding designRESERVE with Fangzhou Lydia Song. Since 2022, he has been a teaching fellow for the School of Design at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Practice Ideology
Founded by Fangzhou Lydia Song and Feng Yue in Beijing and the “Silicon Valley” of California, designRESERVE is an architectural studio dedicated to sustainable physical society, with a focus on building progressive spaces for urban economy and culture. The team consists of professionals from the fields of urban design, architecture, landscape, visual art, and curation. In the first ten years of practice and through numerous projects of various scales, designRESERVE has been advocating “participation domain,” an ideal community with vitality, diversity, and inclusiveness. Responding to the challenges of the post-globalization era of Chinese cities, the firm’s practice is highly context-specific and driven by deep interests in integrating contemporary life into local history and ecology. Since 2019, designRESERVE has been listed consecutively by Architectural Digest Magazine as one of the most influential architecture and interior firms in China. The works of designRESERVE have been broadly covered by global media and received professional recognitions such as the Architizer A+Awards Jury Winner, the A&D Awards Gold, and the Future City Awards Grand Medal.
