Nguyen Quang Hien
Nguyen Quang Hien is an architect & planner who graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture. With over 20 years of experience in architecture across Southeast Asia, Nguyen Quang Hien has led numerous large-scale projects, including high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, mixed-use developments, and hospitality projects.
Since founding his practice in 2008, he has continuously refined his design philosophy toward creating spaces that are nurturing, comfortable, nature-friendly, and emotionally resonant. This shift was deeply influenced by his reflections during Vietnam’s prolonged lockdowns amid the COVID-19 pandemic, where he recognized the critical lack of well-ventilated, healthy environments with buffer zones against external pollution, fostering better air quality, encouraging social interaction, and contributing to the urban green fabric in Vietnam’s major cities.
His architectural approach emphasizes simplicity and refinement, yet remains open to bold interventions. With a strong environmentally conscious orientation, he prioritizes aesthetic sensibility that is both rational and timeless, ensuring that designs are not only visually harmonious but also tailored to the individuality of their users. This is achieved through a seamless fusion of personal preferences and expert-driven solutions. His work consistently seeks to gently integrate vernacular influences and traditional knowledge while employing climate-responsive strategies to enhance sustainability and social engagement.
