Shang Interior Architects was founded in 2023 and is based in Shanghai. The firm is committed to the innovative practice of interior architecture design, engaging in various sectors, including retail, dining, residential, and real estate. Additionally, it focuses on and participates in real estate development, hotel investment, and innovative entrepreneurship, striving to achieve an organic integration of design and business across multiple dimensions.
Shang Interior Architects is co-led by Gu Xihan and Lu Yingfu, both graduates of the Interior Design program at Pratt Institute in New York. They have gained practical experience at renowned design firms both domestically and internationally. The firm does not define itself by labels but instead operates with an inward drive, inclusivity, and a strong curiosity for design, continuously exploring and perceiving the world with a powerful internal motivation.
Its design approach emphasizes transcending the materiality of space through the use of light, color, and materials, creating a poetic existence that blends sensory experience with physical essence. The founding team also brings expertise in industrial design and top-tier business MBA backgrounds, enabling its space design solutions to achieve unity and integrity.
