Practice Ideology
Studio Avocado is a young architecture studio based in Calicut. The studio was founded in 2018 and established in 2020 by Ar. Yasin K. M., who graduated in 2020 from Ranganathan Architecture College, Coimbatore, and completed an internship at Humming Tree, Calicut. The style of design followed by the studio is contemporary tropical architecture. The designs incorporate the play of vertical and horizontal elements subsumed with the individual features evolved from the site and context. Each work embraces minimalism, comprehending tropical colours and suitable landscaping.
The fondness to observe things around them filled a quest for a creative field where one could explore their imaginative and innovative skills, which in turn resulted in choosing architecture as the career path. During the final years of academics, the architect obtained a fierce energy to become confident enough to create something of their own. Taking up the opportunities and experimenting by ignoring the fear factor helped with self-growth and evolving as an architect with more knowledge and an advanced understanding of the profession. Beginning by doing residential projects and also dealing with renovating and revamping projects instilled confidence and faith throughout the journey. They believe that working with patience and following ethics to inspire themselves and to uplift the respect of their profession is the foundation of their career.
