Excerpt: Ba House by TT.V Architects is a three-story residence for three generations, designed by listening to the owner, the land, and the house. Tucked away in a small alley on a hillside, the design creates an open, airy living environment centered on connection and gathering. Natural light, ventilation, and greenery shape a calm microclimate where intergenerational living, quietude, sustainability, and everyday life coexist in a busy urban environment.
Project Description

[Text as submitted by architect] “Ba House” – Tucked away in a small alley on the hillside, on a plot of land with an area of 400m2, “Ba House” is a three-story home designed specifically for three generations.

Following the small alley, stepping through the gate is like entering a different space: open, airy, with a multi-functional courtyard, surrounded by a gabion wall system combined with soothing greenery and a clear pond.

The staircase is designed to draw light through glass block windows, giving each step a feeling of spaciousness and relaxation. The 2nd floor is dedicated to common living space, as its ample space and ideal height emphasize the meaning of intergenerational connection.

The team of architects chose wood for the ceiling and column structure to bring a rustic, cozy feeling but did not forget the spatial highlight: a floor-to-ceiling glass facade that maximizes landscape views and enhances ventilation and natural lighting, providing a cool microclimate that elevates the quality of life for the family in a busy urban environment.
During the design and construction process, we always prioritized solutions that balanced three criteria: cost, sustainability, and aesthetics, such as using corrugated steel sheets for the roof.

We chose to name this project “Ba House” as an appreciation of the owner’s values as well as the lessons the design team learned during the construction process. Listening to the Owner, listening to the Land, listening to the House, we found the unique rhythm of this place – where Connection, Gathering, and Quietude coexist.
