Project Description

[Text as submitted by architect] Directly on the IJ lake, with a view of the Randstad, Almere is developing a new Dune city: DUIN. In addition to a center on the boulevard, Duin has various Dune Forests and Dune Valleys.

In the Dune Forests one can live in the middle of a mature family of trees: Spruce, Beech, Maple. The area is rugged with woodcut paths, forest and informal residential courtyards. From your house you can directly enter nature.

The assignment for the design of houses in Duin is to celebrate the landscape. Simple blocks that strengthen the mystique of the woods. Small blocks and steeply pitched roofs in a leafy area. Private outdoor space and storage in the form of a veranda with wood storage.

The vertically ribbed facades in brick and wood feel like tree bark. Roofs and overhangs consist of rounded pans in earth tones. The high standing windows offer a beautiful view of the trees that surround you. Living in Duin feels like being on vacation.
