Excerpt: Casa M11 by Martin Gomez Arquitectos is designed as a compact and solid concrete volume that establishes a strong presence on a small lot. The core design idea is to create a contrast between the heavy, monolithic exterior and a light, open interior that connects seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Large floor-to-ceiling windows and hidden frames dissolve boundaries, fostering a fluid relationship between indoor spaces and nature.

[Text as submitted by architect] Casa M11 was conceived as a compact volume on a small lot in the Miraflores Country Club. Located in front of a cleared lot with tall eucalyptus trees, this solid and heavy house is experienced from the inside in a permeable way with the surrounding environment.

The choice of materials makes it possible to emphasize the coexistence of both characteristics: from the outside, the predominant exposed concrete emphasizes the pure and solid form of the box, while inside the limits are blurred around its entire perimeter thanks to the large windows from floor to ceiling. This sense of continuity is emphasized by embedding the carpentry completely in the walls, allowing direct connection with the environment, thus living spacious and warm interior environments with abundant wood that opens onto the greenery outside.

The use of concrete and travertine floors for both interior and exterior allows zero maintenance, thus generating only the enjoyment of the in/out sensation in all environments.

The house is organized through a linear scheme on 2 levels that resolves a social program on the ground floor and a private upper floor where the bedrooms are located, all with an en-suite scheme, sharing a multipurpose area that acts as a bureau, a game room or a tv room. This space is accompanied by a large window, emphasizing the main intention of the house: a space of maximum utility that guarantees a constant relationship with the outside.
