Excerpt: Mimosa Cafe, designed by Human+ Architects, seeks to create a harmonious balance between nature and architecture. The design of the cafe features four curved walls that open outward, allowing the building to fully embrace the surrounding pine forest. These walls maintain the structure’s simplicity and maximize natural light from all four sides, harmonizing with its natural context.

[Text as submitted by architect] The Mimosa Cafe project is located in a pine forest on the slopes of Da Lat, a highland town in Vietnam. As such, the design focuses on using familiar materials such as tiles and wood as the primary elements. The key spatial feature of the project is the four curved walls that open outward, allowing the building to fully embrace the surrounding pine forest.

These curved walls not only maintain the simplicity of the overall structure but also create a softness that helps the building harmonize with its natural context. This design also allows for the maximization of natural light from all four sides, along with direct light from above.
