Project Description

[Text as submitted by architect] Rowan decor in Surat is a market leader in the mattress, curtain, carpet, furnishing retailers, and decorative item dealers’ industry. They were founded in 2002 and are the market leader in the category mattress dealers in Surat. This well-known establishment serves as a one-stop shop for customers both local and from other areas of Surat. This company has established a strong foothold in its industry over the course of its existence.

Located in Adajan, an upcoming bustling suburb of Surat is the rowan decor. The interior design and planning of the space are done by Neogenesis+Studi0261, spearheaded by Ar. Chinmay Laiwala, Ar. Jigar Asarawala, Ar. Tarika Asarawala. The client’s brief was to create a budget-friendly luxurious interior styling store. An attempt to make a 21st century styling store with throwbacks to the past is easy to talk about but difficult to envisage and that is what makes this interior styling store in Adajan standout from the rest.

The main entrance introduces what becomes the design theme for the rest of the store. The design details are clean and minimal; having an understated finesse in their finished state. The first important space of the store is the reception area. Carrying forward the theme, it is furnished in shades of pink and gold, complemented with wood. The main discussion space is sparsely furnished with a muted colour palette, predominantly in shades of pink. The wall has a textured pattern, giving a fresh look to the otherwise plain walls of the space. Furniture pieces in pastel shades complete the look of the space. The discussion space then leads to the curtain selection area & pantry area and the catalogues selection of the store.

The curtains selection area is furnished in wood against whites, almost achieving a utilitarian look. In contrast to the curtains area yet maintaining a balance, the pantry area is completely done in earthy tones. This sets it apart from the rest of the wooden furniture in the other spaces. The open plan of the store allows easy movement between spaces and also helps maintain visibility. The furniture facilitates this idea rather than being an obstruction.

Another interesting aspect of interior design is the clever yet underplayed effect of the selection of the artworks and installations displayed across the store, including offices and discussion spaces. The main office is tastefully outfitted with grey tiles on the flooring. The wall has a plaid texture in white, breaking the monotonous look of the room.
