Project Description
[Text as submitted by architect] “Swasthayam”, a preventive health care centre and clinic, designed with a clear idea, to radiate the feeling of warmth, with the very first step. This 850 sq. feet clinic was designed with a very distinct brief, to be monochromatic, earthy and snug. The material palette, hence, was restricted to wooden, cane and beige. The whole clinic comes together in this neutral flow of colours and textures.

One enters into the reception and waiting area, and then is led to each specific space, namely, physiotherapy room, yoga & exercise room, main consultation room and mental wellness room. Each space is designed with one distinct element to highlight the function of that space.

The reception sees a wooden log ceiling, fixed with strips of profile light, to illuminate the floor as well as the ceiling. While the main desk acts as a product display unit alongside its usual function. On the wall you can spot four unique frames, which were refurbished from the client’s old “shawl”. The idea was to add a personal touch to the whole space in total, while trying to maximise the concept of best out of waste.

The yoga and physiotherapy room, both are designed with beige walls and wooden ceilings. The storage unit is what adds the spark to this space, with its peculiar design and use of wooden knobs along with cane sheets.

At the end, you enter into the main consultation and mental wellbeing room, both interconnected and separated through a sliding door partition. This gives the space a flexibility to expand or contract, as per the need of the hour.

The main consultation room is adorned by beautiful hand painted frames, and indoor plants. The main work desk and the storage unit, both designed to take the monochromatic theme forward, while the seating space for the mental well-being room, designed and decorated to align with the overall theme of the clinic.

Enhanced with minute details and personal interventions, “Swasthayam” is an epitome of ‘Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication’.
