Excerpt: The Winery, an interior design project by Neuhausl Hunal, combines a minimalist and thoughtful approach to create a cohesive, comfortable, and visually appealing cafe. The cafe has been redesigned to create a warm and inviting atmosphere while preserving the structure’s heritage. Featuring minimal furniture and materials, the design is free from unnecessary embellishments.
Project Description
[Text as submitted by architect] The project involved the low-cost refurbishment of a kitschy cafe, transforming it into a sister venue to The Eatery, which Neuhausl Hunal completed in 2018. The design approach for this new venue is deliberately consistent, with both spaces using an analogous visual language to create a cohesive identity.
The cafe has been redesigned to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, with indirect lighting and candles on tables. White-painted jambs frame the original doors, preserving the cafe’s heritage. The furniture features extravagant chairs and simple tiled elements, while metal accents and a wooden floor contrast with black tables and dark green bench covers. The result is a curated yet unpretentious interior, free from unnecessary embellishments.
