About Competition
The Compact Live-Work House (Portland, USA) architecture competition challenges participants to design a small-scale dwelling that seamlessly combines living and working under one roof. Create an efficient, inspiring, and adaptable environment that supports everyday life while accommodating activities such as remote work, studying, crafting, or small-scale creative production. The design should demonstrate innovation in compact living while responding to Portland’s urban and environmental context.
Requirements / Eligibility
The competition challenges participants to design a compact house supporting residential and work functions within a small footprint, balancing privacy and interaction while staying within a $150,000 USD construction budget. Submissions must consist of 1 x A1 Sheet in PDF format (minimum 150 dpi, maximum 20 MB) illustrating the concept, design strategy, floor plans, spatial organization, and user experience.
