Founded in the memory of Professor Kurula Varkey, a former Director of the School of Architecture and a prominent figure in the institution’s pedagogical reforms, the forum brings together students from various architectural schools, academicians, and practitioners from around the world. The forum is organised around selected final-year student projects, which help facilitate conversations on larger concerns relevant to the architectural fraternity.
KVDF 2026 is set to be a collaborative design workshop, wherein participants engage in a design process sparked by questions that arise from the student project presentations. The aim is for different schools of thought to come together not only to look at a design but to make one. This year, student projects need not cater to a theme because the forum intends to serve student ideas, the subjects of interest in Architecture today. It is a ‘Design Experiment’ crafted by your submissions.
Eligibility Criteria:
Recently graduated students of architecture who have finished their B.Arch degree between 2024 – 2026 are eligible to send in their final year projects for the KVDF forum this year. The participant must describe their project through a write-up of 300-350 words, while identifying and mentioning the questions raised in the process, as well as the questions addressed by the project.
Participants are encouraged to emphasize their design process through the course of the completion of their project. Any form of representation, including but not limited to process documentation, rejected ideas, sketches, models, iterations, explorations, and outcomes, with minimal text, is appreciated. A compiled document, not exceeding 25 pages, with a maximum file size of 10MB, is expected for the application.
