Practice Ideology

23 Degrees Design Shift is an architecture and design studio based in Hyderabad, founded in 2010. Led by principals Ar. Srikanth Reddy, Ar. Neelesh Kumar, and Ar. Raghuram, the practice works across a wide range of project typologies, including private residences, farmhouses, F&B spaces such as restaurants, breweries, and bars, as well as commercial offices.

Their work reflects a commitment to contextual relevance, material sensitivity, and spatial clarity. For their innovative projects, they have been recognized with ID Honours for Hospitality awards, and their projects published in several leading architectural and design platforms globally.

The studio’s core philosophy focuses on creating context-driven, environmentally responsive spaces that prioritize openness, scale, and material sensitivity. A slight tilt of the Earth’s axis—23.5 degrees—brings about the change of seasons, the play of light and darkness, and the rhythms of life on our planet. This subtle but significant shift is an intrinsic feature of the grand design of nature and the cosmos.

23 Degrees Design Shift, or 23DDS, aligns its practice with expansive contexts that are deeply connected to the living world. The studio’s work is defined by a material-informed approach, where the selection and use of materials directly influence form and function. Natural textures, an earthy colour palette, and regionally relevant resources are employed to enhance the tactile and visual quality of each space.

Nature integration is central to the studio’s design philosophy. Their built environments often incorporate existing vegetation, natural light, and passive ventilation strategies—minimizing environmental impact while maximizing user comfort. As a result, the studio’s projects engage in a direct and dynamic dialogue with their surroundings.

The architectural language at 23DDS frequently explores form development through linear expansion, emphasizing spatial vastness, volume, and visual continuity. Working with generous proportions and seamless transitions, the studio creates a strong sense of openness and flow across a range of project types—from intimate residences to large-scale hospitality and commercial buildings.

23 Degrees Design Shift consistently delivers work that balances aesthetics, performance, and ecological responsibility, grounded in a clear and evolving design methodology.
