Petchimuthu Kennedy completed his bachelor’s degree in architecture at SIGMA College of Architecture and started working at Wallmakers, where he learnt earth techniques and the responsibility of earthen architecture. Earthscape Studio was established in 2022, where he began practicing earthen architecture, trying to connect the bridge between nature and humans.

Practice Ideology
The studio’s architectural approach to the environment focuses on creating nature-friendly built forms, treating each project as a research endeavor to explore and experiment with various techniques and eco-friendly materials. By utilizing naturally formed materials in their original state, the studio ensures that buildings are sustainable and harmless to the environment. Recognizing the structural framework as a vital component of any building, the studio emphasizes designing self-sustaining geometrical structures to enhance sustainability.
The philosophy acknowledges that every individual or living being perceives a site differently, so buildings must respond to diverse perspectives and emotions. Architecture is envisioned as a connecting bridge between humans and nature, fulfilling the needs of both. While achieving a 100% sustainable building is acknowledged as an unattainable goal, the studio is committed to striving for maximum sustainability in its designs.
