Ar. Santosh Sadashiv Pisal
Santosh Sadashiv Pisal is an architect and founder of Studio Apaaar, an architectural practice based in Pune, India.
He completed his Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) from Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Architecture (BVCOA), Pune, in 2006. Following his graduation, he gained professional experience working with architect Ravi Gadre and subsequently with Morphogenesis, New Delhi, one of India’s leading architecture and urban design practices.
These early professional experiences contributed significantly to his understanding of architectural design, materiality, context and the relationship between built form and its surroundings.
In 2009, Pisal established his own architectural practice, Studio Apaaar, in Pune. Since its inception, the practice has worked across a diverse range of projects, including residential, educational and recreational architecture, with a focus on developing context-responsive and meaningful built environments.
His work explores the relationship between architecture, people and place, while responding to the specific cultural, environmental and functional conditions of each project. Rather than following a predetermined architectural language, the practice seeks to develop an individual architectural expression for every project through an understanding of context, programme, material and human experience.
Over the years, Pisal has been involved in a variety of architectural projects at different scales, ranging from private residences and institutional buildings to recreational and public-oriented spaces. His approach places importance on creating architecture that is both contemporary and rooted in its context, while maintaining a balance between functionality, spatial experience and material expression.
His recent work, Museum of Humanity, reflects this ongoing exploration of architecture as a medium for creating meaningful public experiences and engaging with broader cultural and social narratives.

Studio Apaaar, founded in 2009 by Principal Architect Santosh Sadashiv Pisal, Vikas Sadashiv Pisal, Kundan Namdeo Kshirsagar and Tejas Munot. It is a design-and-build architectural practice based in Pune. The studio is widely recognized for its context-sensitive, emotion-driven, and humanity-centered design approach.
The name “Apaaar”, meaning “limitless,” reflects the studio’s core philosophy that architecture transcends mere physical structures. It is a medium to express deeper human values, cultural narratives, and emotional experiences through built form.
Studio Apaaar’s work focuses on creating architecture that resonates with human experience and introspection, often exploring themes of emotion, spirituality, memory, and cultural symbolism. Each project seeks to establish a meaningful dialogue between people, place, and purpose.
