Project Description
[Text as submitted by architect] This project is a townhouse designed for a doctor couple, who sought a home that offers calmness and privacy within a busy urban setting. Located in a dense and active neighbourhood, the primary design challenge was to create a peaceful living environment despite the busy surrounding.
The residence is conceived as a five-bedroom home accommodating the couple, their two children, a grandparent, and a live-in maid. While the site is tightly surrounded by neighbouring developments, the house is carefully planned to maintain privacy from the outside while ensuring comfort and openness within.
At the front façade, a metal trellis placed along the eastern side provides visual privacy from the street while still allowing light and filtered light ventilation into the house. The design follows a contemporary approach with clean lines and simple forms, allowing the spaces to feel open and uncluttered.
This is achieved through minimal detailing, large openings that bring in natural light, and features such as a double-height living and dining area, which contributes to the overall spatial volume and visual character of the house.
The house is designed in accordance with Vastu principles, ensuring spatial harmony while meeting the practical needs of the family. The bedrooms are positioned to ensure maximum cross ventilation and natural light, enhancing indoor comfort despite the surrounding development. A small living space opens toward a patio, creating a quiet connection to the outdoors within the house.
The house stands as a sensitive response to its surroundings, prioritizing comfort, privacy, and everyday living.
