The home owner loves the neighbourhood and he says ‘everyone is almost like family’ and he needed a sitout at the entry and a large courtyard in the ground level to accommodate his friends and family at all the required times. This was the only specific need he had during the initial discussions. We have rendered a home with a lot of openness and play of natural light and air ventilation. We conceived all the common areas into one single visually connected spatial volume even connecting the ground and the first floor.

The ground floor consists of the sitout, the living room, the courtyard which is connected to the dining space and to the open kitchen. Two bedrooms are placed at the ends of the courtyard. The first floor consists of another living space with a study space and another bedroom and a balcony to the front yard of the home. The three bedrooms have adequate privacy as required. There are no false ceilings or any sort of ornamentations engaged in the interior and exterior treatments. The straight forward minimal design approach ensures ease of maintenance and takes away the scope for clutter in any of the spatial arrangements.

The heart of the residence is the courtyard. It takes the center stage and the elements are built around it. Courtyards give a pinch of outdoors while keeping the inmates secured indoors.
