To mark its 65th anniversary, Edition DETAIL is publishing the volume 100 Details. Drawn Reality. In Facade. In Construction. In Material. This book brings together 100 selected DETAIL drawings spanning from over six decades of the magazine’s history, making them available for the first time in a dedicated publication.
The volume is divided into three chapters — Facade, Construction, and Material—and presents pioneering examples of international architecture, ranging from Herzog & de Meuron and SANAA to experimental designs by Sou Fujimoto Architects, Bearth, and Deplazes & Gramazio Kohler Architects, as well as haascookzemmrich Studio2050 with Martin Rauch. The clean black-and-white drawings reduce complex building processes to their structural essence, thereby revealing a unique expressiveness. They tell of innovation, precise craftsmanship, and the search for the best solution in the building process. Accompanying texts and references to the respective DETAIL magazine publication, show the projects in their original context.

About the Author
Jeanette Kunsmann is an author, architecture journalist, and the editor-in-chief of DETAIL magazine. She previously worked as editor-in-chief of the daily BauNetz news service and Baunetzwoche magazine, as well as deputy editor-in-chief of the architecture magazine DEAR (Heinze GmbH). Having studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin, she now lives and works in Berlin and Munich.
