About Competition
The Urban Design Lab (UDL) announces the fourth edition of its international Thesis Publication, inviting submissions from undergraduate and postgraduate students in urban design, architecture, landscape, and planning disciplines. Conceived as a global academic platform, the initiative curates and disseminates exemplary thesis work that engages with contemporary urban challenges through design, research, and critical inquiry.
The publication seeks to foreground emerging voices and innovative approaches that contribute to ongoing discourses in the urban domain. Selected works will be compiled into an ISBN-attributed publication, positioning student research within an international academic and professional context while fostering cross-cultural exchange and knowledge production.
Submissions are invited across four thematic tracks: Urban Renewal, Urban Landscapes, Urban Management, and Urban Networks, reflecting diverse yet interconnected dimensions of urban transformation. The process follows a two-stage submission format, where participants are first required to submit an abstract, followed by a detailed thesis portfolio upon selection.
A curated selection of top entries will be presented at an international online seminar, engaging with a distinguished panel of academics and practitioners from across the globe. In addition to publication, selected participants will gain visibility within a wider network of urban researchers, designers, and institutions.
With its emphasis on rigor, relevance, and representation, the UDL Thesis Publication continues to position student research as a critical driver in shaping future urban discourse.
