Day 10 | Introduction to Luchbox
In this session of the workshop – Introduction to Computational Design, participants were introduced to Lunchbox to generate drawings for different kinds of models in grasshopper to rhino for fabrication.

Awadh Shilpgram, designed by archohm, evolves organically from people’s commercial, cultural, social and leisurely interactions. The built environment is an interpretative collage, a gesture saluting the unique traditional architecture of the Roomi Darwaza and the Imambaras with adequate daylighting, proper air circulation through cross ventilation further adds the dimension of comfort to the design. With nearly two-hundred craft shops of which some are air conditioned, craft courts, a dormitory hostel, an auditorium, and a food court with stalls serving cuisine from different states, Awadh Shilpgram indeed provides generous facilities to visitors and artisans.
Varivana Resort, designed by the architectural firm POAR, is a resort on the top of the mountain of Koh Pha Ngan. The challenge is to make architecture of this resort that can accelerate the wind. The architecture of this project is a combination of 12-meters-height walls and 2.5 meters cantilevered balconies, the entire exterior material is an exposing-concrete with coconut form-works. This planning allows visitors to be able to open their back window and door to get full ventilation all day, without losing privacy.
POAR, founded by Patchara Wongboonsin and Ornnicha Duriyaprapan, is a multidisciplinary research/design studio in Thailand. It is where traditional, local and modern architecture is combined.
In this session of the workshop – Introduction to Computational Design, participants were introduced to Ladybug to generate and analyse climate based data
New York Public Library, designed by the architectural firm Ten Arquitectos, transforms the place into a new cultural space. The objective is to bring the community together and give people the opportunity to meet & share. With an architectural program located mostly below ground level, the TEN Arquitectos project places a glass façade that practically disappears to reveal the internal dynamics of the space: a bright, open and welcoming landscape. This design feature allows anyone to see from the entrance the variety of events that take place inside, on its different levels.
In this session of the workshop – Introduction to Computational Design, participants were introduced Weavebird to generate mesh surfaces from different kinds of forms in grasshopper.
Co-sharing office, designed AndyRahman Architects, functions as an architect’s office and sharing space for various activities. Red Brick became the character of the Co-Sharing Office with manual installation techniques, bringing back the architectural craftsmanship. Red brick is installed as wall, floor, and ceiling ornaments with craft designs and techniques that even appear suddenly in the field. Co-Sharing Office presents the concept of sharing socially, technically, and economically, and strives to be a precedent for climate response building among mass-product buildings.
In this session of the workshop – Introduction to Computational Design, focused on developing the understanding of using kangaroo2.
Casa RA, designed by the architectural firm LB+MR, is a residence made up of distinct and perpendicular volumes. The house is designed from clear volumes and natural materials, always seeking cross ventilation, natural lighting and a delicate fit into the building site. It is envisioned as the organization of spaces and functions by creating two plateaus. In the first, there are the accesses and garage. The second is an integrated leisure area, in addition to the couple’s bedroom, studio, services, vegetable garden, and orchard.
Dindang House, designed by the architectural firm Archimontage Design Fields Sophisticated, is a residence in Bangkok, Thailand. A careful design may solve all problems of this chaotic site and bring sense of home through various elements such as the three courtyards that scattered throughout the space. The flow of space starts from the entrance where railroad sleepers from the old factory in another alley form the road and the car park.
In this session of the workshop – Introduction to Computational Design, participants were introduced Elk to extract data and generate drawings and 3d models of a large area in urban context based on the information from the open street map.
Archohm Studio, designed by architecture and design firm archohm, is divided into five near platonic and bold volumes. Each is expected to reflect the intellectual diligence of the organization, to help build relationships at various levels, and strive to be metaphysical. The building echoes the attitude and sentiments of the designers and the practice with simple measures as ‘correct’ orientation, and the employment of appropriate materials, soft and muted day lighting and expansive use of indigenous materials.
archohm is a contemporary architecture and design studio addressing an array of opportunities with a responsive and responsible approach. archohm’s portfolio transcends scales, typologies, and mediums, and our scope extends from envisioning the dream to articulating its deliverance in public and private realms. For the required diversity and depth to dream and deliver such projects, we are a collective of 100+ motivated and talented archohmates.
OKO House, designed by Sergey Makhno Architects, is a two-level residence named after the key element of the façade. The element being a round window in steel partitions for almost the entire space of the house. Through this “eye”, owners and guests of the house have a view of the natural green landscape. The project is filled with art objects by Ukrainian artists: in a concrete arch, in front of it, behind the central gate, at the exit from the terrace. Opposite part of the house is the main facade, where there are a garage and entrance to the territory. It is minimalist, monumental and it doesn’t reveal all the secrets.
In this session of the workshop – Introduction to Computational Design, focused on learning more about Grasshopper. The task was to create a wave kind of panel from curves and a geometry using a pull point and Rich graph mapper.
Professor Gurdev Singh brings in his large experience as an architect and an academician from across Australia, middle east and India, while sharing with us his unique way of approaching architecture and design pedagogy.
Sergey Makhno Architects is a Ukrainian architecture, design, and ceramics studio based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and working worldwide. The team has been creating projects intertwining Ukrainian traditions, world trends and the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, the forces of nature, human talent and architectural mind. They work with architecture, landscape design, interior design, and product design. The main task of their specialists — architects, designers, engineers, artists — is to create comfort that will become near and dear.
In this session of the workshop – Introduction to Computational Design, focused on learning more about Grasshopper. The task was to understand the basics of data tree and sort geometry based on its size and to morph a geometry on a surface.
House in Ribeirão Preto, designed by the architectural firm spbr arquitetos, sits on the natural profile of the context. The pretext of this is that it was decided to move the volume of land on the plot to organize three garden levels in different levels, as if they were three stones, and a walk between them at street level.
NEST, designed by the architectural firm Neogenesis + studio0261, is a workplace interior design with the idea of feeling at home. The spaces envisaged were both singular and diverse, connected yet separated synchronously to allow the simplicity and diversity to co-exist by two unique professionals- architects and advocates. The choice and detailing of elements was additionally an endeavor to keep the overall look grounded and earthy and to revive the local artistry and building materials.
Day 5 | Learning more about Grasshopper, Task 1, 2 & 3
The law office, designed by the architecture and design firm Studio Course, works on the idea of transparency in the work. Clean lines, customized wooden furniture and use of natural materials define this space. The varying sized RCC structure of columns, beams and slab are exposed in Grey plaster and are used to enhance the design, instead of hiding them. The neatly designed space and uncluttered furniture try to bring the sophistication needed for the work environment.
Paknam Office, designed by the architectural firm Archimontage Design Fields Sophisticated, is an office interior design in Thailand. The transparent façade of this office creates sharp contrast between the lighter inside and the dusty atmosphere of the old dressed timber factory outside. A large frameless transparent glass façade is placed between the thin ceiling sheets and the floor where the overall structure is well hidden behind.
