The students of CEPT University focused on time-problem and were asked to look for the images for their main project simultaneously. The image selected by the student is the starting point of the process; it represents a topic. The student should first try to find what is ‘obvious and not obvious’ in the image through books, internet, videos, etc.

The students of CEPT University were introduced to the main project, with the time problem, and a small presentation by Prof Gurdev. This project intends to investigate ‘processes’ in Architectural design activity. One of the important components of that is the process of Transformation through different levels of interpretation.

Prof Gurdev visited the CEPT studio and the time problem ended with a general discussion with the models along with their original paintings. The discussion focused on the nature of abstraction, which is true to the painting. The students explored various model-making materials, from papers to wires, meshes, clay, pop, acrylic, etc.

A joint studio between Faculty of Architecture-CEPT University & School of Environmental Design & Architecture-Navrachana University is being conducted. The studio’s title is ‘Abstraction,’ focusing on a form-finding process that starts with an image. It is converted into an architectural object through various stages of abstraction and transformation.
