Yingliang Stone Archive | Atelier Alter Architects

Yingliang Stone Archive, designed by Atelier Alter Architects, converts a storage space into a stone archive: to showcase the diversities of stone craft and to create a space for architects to contemplate their designs with stone. This project attempts to propose a critique of modern construction. By inventing new construction methods based on levels of local craftsmanship, we strive to find coherence between the architecture scale and the detail scale of the work.

Edificio Turin | C2D

Edificio Turin, designed by C2D, uses the shape of the plot as an advantage by dividing each floor plan into two offset strips bound by the vertical circulation core. The vertical and horizontal circulations play an important role in the design, helping to separate public and private areas inside the apartments and creating efficient access to each unit from the street while minimizing futile space.

Villa F | Siana Architecte

Villa F, designed by Siana Architecte, tries to feature a philosophical discourse between tradition and modernity. The morphology is conceived as a contemporary update of the modernist architecture of Casablanca and as well as an evolution of the Moroccan way of life. The openings are placed and generally grouped in order to offer the best possible orientations and to benefit all the spaces by freeing the maximum of facades.

Alexandra Street House | Robert Simeoni Architects

Alexandra Street House, designed by Robert Simeoni Architects, reads as a strong, heavy form broken down through a series of shifts and slippages. Hints of almost carved, sheltered spaces behind the building’s skin are evident where these slippages occur, resulting in an introverted dwelling that reveals itself only once inside. High solid balustrades afford visual and acoustic protection. At the same time, deeply recessed windows and integrated balconies help the house to read as a solid form.

meta[b]ole | FKAT.Studio, AYK Associates Architects

meta[b]ole, designed by FKAT.studio & AYK Associates Architects, is a structure that functions as a multifunctional bench for sitting and quick resting. The form finding was approached from the study of the linear flow of the circulation along the beach and the behavioural triangular notion “stop-sit-relax”. Then, the organic shape of the furniture was shaped on the intersection of this combination, highlighting the dynamism of the moving flow, combined with the pre-scribed range of alternative relaxing poses.
