Folkart Blu hotel and residences, designed by Dilekci Architects (DDA), reduces the perception of high-rise construction; the mass is fragmented horizontally and vertically. The structure is designed in overlapping, segmented horizontal blocks. Material choices hold the most important place in the expression of the dynamic form that constitutes the design. Glass and stone together describe the space and occupancy areas of the form.

Villa F, designed by Siana Architecte, tries to feature a philosophical discourse between tradition and modernity. The morphology is conceived as a contemporary update of the modernist architecture of Casablanca and as well as an evolution of the Moroccan way of life. The openings are placed and generally grouped in order to offer the best possible orientations and to benefit all the spaces by freeing the maximum of facades.

Siana Architecte attempts to reconcile traditional North African architecture with the modernist move¬ment’s imposition on the built environment in public and residential buildings. Research into Arabic medina city planning inspired their inclusion of courtyard gardens typical of the traditional Moroc¬can house, or riad, within cellular clusters of buildings grouped off the campus’s main axis.

Alexandra Street House, designed by Robert Simeoni Architects, reads as a strong, heavy form broken down through a series of shifts and slippages. Hints of almost carved, sheltered spaces behind the building’s skin are evident where these slippages occur, resulting in an introverted dwelling that reveals itself only once inside. High solid balustrades afford visual and acoustic protection. At the same time, deeply recessed windows and integrated balconies help the house to read as a solid form.
