Ar. Suhail A K
Architecture has always been more than the creation of buildings; it is the art of shaping spaces that reflect the character, culture, and aspirations of a community. Ar. Suhail’s journey in this field began with a deep curiosity about how the built environment influences the way people live, interact, and experience the world around them.
Studying at TKM College of Engineering was a transformative experience that shaped his creativity, imagination, and passion into a structured understanding of design and the built environment. Those academic years provided a strong foundation in design thinking, while interactions with peers, mentors, and individuals from diverse backgrounds broadened his perspective and enriched his approach to creating meaningful spaces.
Over the course of nine years in professional practice, he has continuously explored the relationship between culture, place, and human experience. This journey has reinforced his belief that design is not merely a profession but a way of understanding and interpreting the world. Through observation, learning, and practice, he has come to see the built environment as a powerful lens through which thoughtful, context- responsive spaces can be created to enrich everyday life and foster meaningful connections.
Ar. Varun Gopal
Ar. Varun Gopal graduated from T.K.M. College of Engineering, Kollam, and later pursued his Master’s degree at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Prior to his postgraduate studies, he gained professional experience with Mosaic Design Combines, Goa, and NO Architects, Kerala.
As an alumnus of the prestigious Architecture for Society program led by renowned architect Aldo Rossi, he contributed to several state-funded projects across Europe, focusing on urban development, heritage conservation, and urban regeneration. His work involved collaborations and research initiatives associated with cities and institutions such as Milan, Berlin, and the Viva la Pompeii initiative.
His master’s thesis, Intrusive Landscapes, explored the potential of landscape urbanism as a strategic tool for urban regeneration and revitalisation. Over the years, he has developed extensive experience in the design and execution of projects across a wide range of scales and typologies, including luxury resorts, private villas, government schools, and public spaces.
In addition to professional practice, Varun actively contributes to architectural education as a visiting faculty member at leading institutions, including National Institute of Technology Calicut and Avani Institute of Design. His work reflects a strong commitment to contextual design, urban thinking, and the creation of meaningful spaces that respond to both people and place.
Ar. Nabeel
Ar. Nabil Nassar P. graduated from M.E.S. College of Architecture, Calicut. During his academic years, he had the opportunity to work closely with Ar. Suhail, particularly during his thesis period, developed a strong professional association rooted in a shared passion for design and practice.
Following five years of professional experience, Nabil joined SOHO as a Junior Architect and steadily progressed within the organization, becoming a Partner within four years. Today, he leads the Interior and Finishing Division, where his expertise in design, project execution, team management, and coordination plays a vital role in the firm’s success.
In addition to overseeing the Interior and Finishing wing, he manages the internal SOHO team and serves as the primary liaison between consultants and project teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient project delivery.
Over the years, he has built extensive experience in design, project execution, and team leadership, playing a key role in SOHO’s continued growth and development.
Practice Ideology
SOHO was founded in 2011 as an independent architectural practice, beginning as a small office operating from home. The studio offered the comfort of a residential setting while embracing the flexibility and creativity of a collaborative work environment. As the practice grew and formally evolved into a firm in 2016, the identity of the “small office home office” remained central to its ethos, eventually becoming abbreviated as SOHO.
At SOHO, we believe architecture should gently support life, never impose, always invite. Our design process begins with a flexible framework rather than a rigid system, allowing each project to respond naturally to its context and purpose. We create spaces that breathe: open courtyards, soft thresholds, and moments of stillness filled with light and air.
Every project is approached as a dialogue, deeply collaborative and continuously shaped by the needs of our clients. We do not subscribe to a fixed style or predetermined formal language; instead, our architecture emerges from its surroundings, its users, and the unique conditions of each place.
Our buildings are carefully attuned to light, climate, privacy, and everyday life. Facades become living elements, responding to natural rhythms and enriching the experience of space. Rooted in what already exists, we design with respect for the social, cultural, and physical fabric of every context.
Ultimately, our work seeks to create architecture that is human-centred, contextually grounded, and enduring, crafted with care, presence, and purpose in every detail.
