At Casa Laif designed by BAUEN, a low-cost recycled metal was the solution, to which they gave the appearance that time will eventually provide. The oxide defines the materiality and texture which at the same time seeks to contrast its hardness to make it warmer, more livable and appropriate.
In Casas do Pinhal designed by PK Arquitetos contrasts were an important part of the concept. The design translates the contrast between privacy and wideness, light and shadow, and opacity and texture. The blind walls, give privacy to interior spaces, opposing large glazed windows facing south, framed by the garden.
PK Arquitectos is an architecture design firm based in Estoril, Portugal. The atelier was created with the aim of preparing and managing projects designed from the specificity of each program and place.
In LLO House, inspired by the proximity of close v/s distant nature, OOIIO Arquitectura proposed a single-family house that distributed its program throughout the plot, keeping the trees intact and at the same time directing the views to specific points of the mountains that preside over the horizon, in such a way that the house ends up becoming a large spatial “pinwheel”, which revolves around a double-height core that embraces the staircase and connects its two floors.
In Chido Santa Engracia, a restaurant designed by MOCA Estudio, their intervention includes insertion of an organizational system based on the concatenation of spaces. The restaurant is segmented into 5 consecutive atmospheres, alternating two types of volumes with distinctive qualities. The first type of space is compressed. The maximum impact is achieved by using 10×10 tiling and sets of mirrors that dilute the limits of the rooms.
MOCA Estudio is an architecture firm based in Madrid whose work is an investigation of new practical formulas to design spaces, situations and objects, focusing on their interest in the value and control of incoherence, contradictions, exceptions to the rule, order and contrast.
Datum House designed by takes inspiration from its surroundings and context and reinterprets its findings through a contemporary take on a traditional Victorian elevation, resulting in a considered outcome and street integration. The outcome is a result of the envelope being manipulated by the surrounding context, the required amenity and its negotiation with the existing site constraints.
In Fang Suo – Fang Ting Bookstore, a9a rchitects have combined the form of the building itself and the design concept of “electromagnetic cloud” and designed a two-layer circular bookcase near the extension and the central area, which first meets the basic requirements of the bookstore, and then extends with the design elements, giving a feeling of being surrounded by a sea of books.
a9a rchitects is a team who enjoys working with anybody who shares their beliefs that architecture can make a positive, inspirational but never overbearing contribution to the world around us. They offer forward-thinking clients a design that is finely tuned to the place it is sited, the people who will occupy it, and the culture that surrounds it at the time.
In the Beach House designed by Laura Ortin Arquitectura the proposal suggests a new code, a sort of aesthetic and functional disobedience which, in this specific context, is aligned with a provocative vision of a necessary breach. A volatile architecture is suggested. One which is integrated into the celestial scenery, which is fused with the light-blue sky.
Exquisite Home Originated from Nature designed by the Deduction transformed an apartment in the residential development. Through contemporary design interventions, the design team intended to reinterpret an ideal of pure, luxurious and comfortable living, and to express the aesthetics of light and art.
Focusing on clients’ experience and feedback, The Deduction advocates the philosophy of “Design homes representing the occupants’ personality”. We don’t confine design to a certain style but work to break the boundary and approach each project based on demands analysis and close collaboration.
In the renovation of Shenzhen Pingshan Sculptural Art & Creative Park, Atelier XI proposed to create a main axis of public spaces in the center of the cultural district given a fairly limited renovation budget. This design intervention seeks to provoke dialogues between buildings of diverse materials and scales through strategic and visual reconnection.
In the Library at the Delft University of Technology designed by Mecanoo the university needed a campus atmosphere: lawns with flowers and trees where students and professors meet informally on broad stairs. A modern library is served by computers, and most of the books are stored in basements. It is a building where technique is displayed. In this way, the programme was formulated.
In Resort at Panchalimedu by Srijit Srinivas Architects, the design response was one of sensory richness emanating from tranquil spaces and original architectural style of chic ethnic heritage but with all the trappings of modern living. The use of raised circulation paths to overcome the undulating terrain below makes the design very friendly to guests.
In Gallery of Furniture by CHYBIK + KRISTOF the abstractly designed facade using the product being manufactured by the company for which the showroom and display gallery is done, also works as a banner advertisement for the company itself. After a simple adjustment in the interior, a new flexible showroom was created presenting the single segments of the production in specific, thematically arranged spaces.
In Ílhavo House designed by M2.senos Arquitetos the exercise was to accommodate the demanding deployment area, avoiding the proximity of the street and the neighbors. This imposed presence is not always easy to manage, without giving up the outdoor spaces. And so, the house leans against the neighboring gable to the west and develops to the east side, with a regular shape, occupying the land within the legal maximum.
M2 Senos Arquitectos, an architecture design firm from Portugal was founded in 2007 by the architects Sofia and Ricardo Senos, with the mission of developing studies and projects in architecture, rehabilitation, and urban design. Balancing imagination and reality, the atelier always focuses on finding the most creative and assertive solutions for its clients.

Sóc’s house designed by H2 is s located near a beach in an area where many domestic and foreign tourists visit and hence the owner has reserved the house for the homestay business. In the Miro Store of Duoyun Bookstore, Wutopia Lab has designed the lighthouse as a library-like book tower. At the center of the tower is a red spiral staircase that connects the two stories of the white book tower. Stepping out of the white Skylight Book Tower is an abstract black forest. A sparse arrangement of black metal rods supports the partially hollowed-out dark metal roof.
In the Re-Use Home designed by ED+ Architecture the vision was to bring all their architectural and design ideologies into the space and make it a showcase of their design ethos. The design follows clear lines of minimalism with a touch of quirkiness. Being designers, the end users looked at customizing and designing every minuscule detail of the house – ranging from the furniture, the blinds, the artwork and even the wardrobe handles.
In Hillside House designed by BAUEN, the approach towards the design of the house on the hillside is implanted in an inclined base plane with more than 30% of an unparalleled view, exuberant vegetation, and a lake as the culmination of the landscape, inserted in a protagonist environment. The raw concrete provides the texture and esthetics of the volume, in conjunction with the metal that is presented partly raw and naked.
